Community Engagement Workshop (CEW)
A Community Engagement Workshop (CEW) is scheduled on 21st October 2016 at Udaya Samudra, Trivandrum as a part of ISTAS 2016.
As societies become technology-driven, communities, and specific sections–such as women, elderly, internally displaced persons, and differently-abled–are impacted differentially. Some technologies are enabling, whereas others may have both enabling as well as adverse impacts on different communities. CEW is intended to identify key humanitarian issues that emerge as externalities in this process, as well as examine factors that would enhance the sustainable use of technology. The workshop will have invited presentations from renowned social workers, technologists, practitioners, and students who have employed technology solutions for humanitarian issues.
The workshop is hosted by the IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology (SIGHT), Young Professionals SIGHT and SSIT Chapter IEEE Kerala Section. The event is supported by IEEE Humanitarian Activities Committee (HAC) and Internet Society.
The program schedule shall be updated shortly.
